My first takeaway is that there isn’t enough money in the world to make me want to work for Elon Musk, taking a page from his “cold practical handbook” however, this is why I keep my systems at work more or less private. In a previous job when I hinted at leaving they scrambled to offer a raise knowing that they’d have to hire me to teach the next person and it would be more expensive. Realizing that was also why I left however, I’d been underpaid and overly important for way too long.
It’s a continuous struggle though, as a woman and young person, when institutions are continuously sending signals that they’re bigger than you and don’t need you, and as they say all institutions are the shadow of one man. (And yes I watch succession and I know it’s actually Emerson and it might not be word perfect)
